Mrs. Harold Pavitt has returned to j Musterton. A Hamilton visitor to Auckland is Miss A. Greenwood. Mrs. Biernacki left by the Maunganui for a visit to Sydney. Mrs. Carlile, of Hawke’s Bay, has returned from England. She was accompanied by Miss I. M. Monckton. Guests at the Grand Hotel include Miss E. T. Dawson, of Hamilton, and Miss D. J. Otley, of North Auckland. Mr. and Mrs. T. M. Clark, formerly of Ashburton; have now taken up their residence in Auckland. Before leaving Ashburton they were given many presentations and a filled wallet from the Mayor and residents at a public gathering. Miss A. F. Thompson, who returned from London last week, entertained a few friends to afternoon tea at the Lyceum Club, on Monday afternoon, the guest of honour being her sister, Mrs. Gilkison, of Karovi, Wellington. Miss Thompson is spending her Christmas holidays in Wellington and will return to Auckland about the middle of January^ The members of the Women’s National Reserve held a meeting on Thursday, at which it was decided to donate £lO 10s to the Sunshine League for the endowment of a cot at the Sunshine Convalescent Home at Waiheke. Mrs. Clinton Savage was appointed reserve’s delegate to the National Council of Women, Mrs. Johnson having resigned from the society. A delightful garden party was held at “Yatesfield,” the Y.M.C.A. Boys’ Hostel, Mount Albert. Jolly games and afternoon tea served by the ladies of the Y.M.C.A* Auxiliary with presentations of Christmas gifts to the boys and staff coptributed to a very pleasant, time. A birthday party was held in the evening in honour of one of the older boys, 30 of his friends joining in games- and dancing. Supper was served later.
