“THE MESSIAH” ORATORIO

CHORAL SOCIETY NEXT THURSDAY One of the biggest musical treats of the year will be the Choral Society’s presentation of “The Messiah,” by Handel, at the Town Hall next Thursday evening. The inspiring choruses of “The Messiah” will be sung by a huge choir, which will include the full Choral Society’s chorus, augmented by members of the Royal Auckland Choir, of the Otahuhu Male Choir, and by members of the various church choirs of the Auckland district. Air. Colin Muston will be the conductor for the whole performance, including a full orchestra under the leadership of Miss Edith Whitelaw. The leading solo parts will be taken by Miss Lilian Woods, soprano; Aliss Doris Aloore, contralto; Mr. Arthur Ripley, tenor; and Mr. Arthur Colledge, bass. The box plan opens on Monday morning at Strong’s, Queen Street.
