BY ST. CUTHBERT’S OLD GIRLS Rehearsals of “Daddy Dong-legs” to be given by St. Cuthbert’s Old Girls' Association on December 13 and 14, are now well advanced. The producer is particularly pleased with the work of the junior members of the cast who play the charity-home orphans in the first act; the freshness and spontaneity of their acting being quite delightful. The orphans’ parts are played by Phyllis Dilworth,- Bettie Colwill, Ruth Kirkbride, Lorna Crump, Shirley Crump, and little Judy Moore (aged two). It is hoped that the play will receive a large measure of public support in view of the object, to help the Free Kindergartens of Auckland. Full particulars will be found advertised elsewhere in this issue. The cast includes Lowrie McGregor, A. H. Fryer- Raisher, Linda de Renzv, Maida Mclndoe, Kathleen Teape, Helen Seabrook, Merle Cox, Gladys Gravson, Mollie Simmonds, Nancy Paterson, George Moody, Hamish Henderson, S. M. Yallop, John Gordon and Bruce Elliot. BANDS IN ALBERT PARK All lovers of band music will be interested in the announcement that a combined programme will be given by the Auckland Artillery Band and the Blind Institute Band in Albert Park on Wednesday evening next. Selections will be played by the combined bands as well as pieces by each band separately. A collection will be taken up in aid of the Artillery Band Contest Funds. “Paramount on Para.de,” a lavish musical extravaganza, is to be produced at the Paramount studios Every Paramount star and featured player will appear in the production. Evey director, story writer, artist and specialist in set designing at the Pare ■ mount studios will have an opportune v to contribute. The mammoth production will be termed a “cinephonic festival.”
