NO TAXATION DECREASE
MR. SNOWDEN CRITICISES MANUFACTURERS OUT-OF-DATE FACTORIES Australian and X.Z. Press Association LONDON, Friday. The Chancellor of the Exchequer, Mr. Philip Snowden, speaking at the annual Cutlers’ Feast at Sheffield, said he could hold out no hope of a reduction in taxation. If they should have an increase it would be from sheer necessity. In discussing unemployment, he said the Government had overwhelming evidence that British would-be exporters were not pushing their trade in foreign countries with the energy that was being displayed by their foreign competitors. He did not think he was exaggerating when he said that one-half of the factories and workshops in Britain were hopelessly out of date.
