MONARCHISTS TO DIE
RUSSIAN MOVE DISGUISED AS RELIGIOUS SECRET COUNCIL OF TWELVE Australian and X.Z. Press Association Reed. 10 a.m. MOSCOW, Friday. • The Tass Agency reports that the Soviet has discovered in the North Caucasus an important Monarchist movement disguised as a religious sect, which is preparing for an armed rising, and opposing Government measures. It consisted of the remnants of the White Guards, who had a secret council of 12 in a remote village. The councillors have been sentenced to death. A later message says the Cheka on Thursday, after secret trials, executed 51, including 40 ringleaders, lor alleged conspiracies to overthrow the Soviets all over the country, and also sentenced 50 persons to imprisonments. This is part of a national cleanup. The most sensational charges were against a religious sect with headquarters on the cliffs overlooking the Black Sea near Soclii, where 12 -were executed, including the Mother Superior of an Iberian monastery. Twenty wealthy peasants, all Socialists, were shot at Krasnodra, and 11 peasants were shot at Samara, for murdering commissars who were organising a grain levy.
