A WEDDING AT BIRKDALE
DAFFODIL TONES LEIGHTON—SHEPHERD An interesting wedding was celebrated at the Methodist Church on Wednesday, when Miss Iris Selina Shepherd, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. M. Shepherd, of Birkdale. was married to Frederick John Leighton, elder son of Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Leighton, of Lower Hutt. The ceremony was performed by the Rev Mr. Allen. The bride, who was given away by her father, looked charming in a frock of ivory satin beaute with long, uneven hem of frills. Her veil was of limerick lace, held in place with clusters of orange blossom, and she carried a bouquet of white roses, carnations and sweet peas. In attendance on the bride were Miss K. Shepherd and Miss J. Bertram. who both wore frocks of daffo-
dil georgette, with large picture hats to tone. They carried posies of pale mauve blossoms. Mr. W. Leighton, brother of the bridegroom, fulfilled the duties of best man, Mr. 11. Shepherd acting as groomsman. A reception was afterward held at the residence of the bride’s parents* Mrs. Shepherd receiving the guests in an ensemble suit of french blue, with hat to tone. A bouquet of pale lemon flow'ers was carried. Mrs. Leighton wore a frock of wine chiffon velvet with a fawn hat. Her bouquet was of toning shades. The bride's travelling dress was a smart naples blue ensemble suit with small hat to tone.
