AUCKLAND CHAMPIONSHIPS BOWIE IN GOOD FORM A foretaste of championship form was given by A. Bowie, New Zealand amateur billiards title-holder, in his match against M. L). White in the second round of the Auckland provincial championships last evening. Bowie’s best effort was a beautifully played S 3 break, which, backed by steady, consistent play, enabled him to reach the 500 mark with a lead of nearlv a couple of hundred points. Although heavily beaten, White put up a plucky fight, and some of his shots were loudly applauded by a large gallery of spectators. The final scores were;—A Bowie. 500 (breaks of 20, 24, 85, 24. 32, 34, 26 and 34); M. 13. White, 305 (breaks of 40, 32, 21, 36 and 21). H. F. Valentine will play 11, A. Randrup this evening. TOURNEY AT PUKEKOHE GOOD BREAK BY MORRISON ('From Our Own Correspondent) PUKEKOHE, Friday. The annual billiards and snooker tournament between the Franklin and Waiuku men’s clubs was decided at Pukekohe on Thursday evening. Franklin won on the aggregate. Results are (Franklin names being mentioned first): —• Billiards E. J. Morrison 200, v. Heise 60; B. Raines 200, v. Sharrock 199; H. J. Sumner 62, v. Lapwood 100; W. Bilkey 72, v. Arkle 100; M. H. O’Louglilen 100, a*. Barriball So; W. MacPherson v. Blackler 100. Snooker Glover 47, v. Leherty 54; L. Short 53 v. G. Williams 29; F. Duncan 56, v. D. Rowe 47; W. J. Short 43, v. li. Parker 33; Edwards 27, v. D. Day 36; T. E. Keven 54, v. Parmenter 31. In his match with Heise E. J. Morrison, the Pukekohe cueist who is competing in the championship at Auckland, made a break of 9G.
