SOLUTION OF THE MAORI PROBLEM SCIENTISTS AT HONOLULU (Australian and NZ. Press Association) HONOLULU, Saturday. At a dinner of the Pan-Pacific Science Council, Sir James Barrett, of Melbourne, discussed the advantages and disadvantages of nationalism. He praised New Zealand’s solution of the Maori problem. He condemned the principle of self-deter-mination as advanced at the Peace Conference. Dr. A. W. Osborne, of Melbourne, urged extreme caution in efforts to prevent reproduction by defectives. He said such measures would have prevented the birth of Edgar Allan Poe. Dr. Pulleine discussed tlie influences of nature and nurture as bearing on the medico-legal aspects of crim«.
