“THE FAR CALL” From a Shanghai saloon to the desolate beaches of the Pribilof Islands in Behring Sea is the range of “The Far Call,” Allan Dwan’s stirring story of the fur-poachers in the North Pacific, now showing at the Grand and Lyric Theatres. At the Grand Theatre a second attraction will be provided in “The Third Eye,” a tale of detectives and television, starring Dorothy Seacombe and John Hamilton. At the Lyric Theatre the second attraction will be “Forbidden Fruit.” a new and fascinating Cinema Arts Film starring George Alexandra. DEBATE ON UNITED PARTY A public debate on the subject “That the United Party is earning its right to public confidence,” will be held in the St. Albans Hall, Dominion Road, this evening. The debate will be opened by authoritative speakers representing the viewpoint of the United and Labour Parties. The Rev. Iklr. Greenwood will be the chairman. MUNICIPAL BAND CONCERT The next Municipal Band concert will be held in the Town Hall on Saturday night, August 17, and not August 15, as previously advertised. VICTORIA LEAGUE LECTURES The fourth of the series of Victoria League lectures will be delivered in the league rooms tomorrow evening. The lecturer will be Mr. W. Boyle, American Consul, and his subject, “Mexico.” Mr. Townley Little will be the chairman.
