CARBONISATION OF COAL

WORKS AT ROTOWARO (From Our Own Correspondent) HUNTLY, Monday. The intimation of the forming of a. private company in connection with the carbonisation of coal in the \Vaikato has been favourably received in Huntly and the surrounding coalmine areas. The combination of coal companies which will operate under the new industry are the Taupiri. \Vaipa Collieries, Renown and Pukemiro Companies. The works will be situated at Rotowaro, and the coal will be transported there by overhead aerials from the Pukemiro and Renown mines. thus saving heavy railway haulage expenditure. \Vork will be put in hand as soon as possible, but some little time must elapse before the heavy machinery is landed from England and erected on the site.
