TAKAPUNA’S BAND
HITCH IN HALL SCHEME A slight hitch has occurred in the i building of the practice and social i loom for the Takapuna Municipal 1 Band. The plans submitted by the band for the building, which, is to be I erected on Taliaroto Park, provided for the outside walls being of poilite. Tho Borough Council officials were of 1 opinion that this material is not suitable for the purpose and submitted an alternative plan and estimate for a. ' building in weather boards. Their estimate of cost was £152. as against £BS for the band’s proposed building At a committee meeting, two builders who are members of the band gav*» it as their opinion that the councils estimate of coat was £3O too high It is now proposed to meet the council to see if finance can be arranged for the difference between the mon«y in hand ( £BS) and the amended estini- . ate can be arranged. The building will be erected entirely by voluntary labour, ample skilled ar- ; tisans being available.
