I SCHOOL PROPOSALS IN AUCKLAND NORTHERN SUBURBS MOVE Close attention has been paid by the Auckland District Council of the ; New Zealand Institute of Horticulture j to the question of agricultural high j schools in the vicinity of Auckland. In order to secure co-operation the council called a public meeting, its annual report states, and the Auckland Provincial Agricultural Education Committee was re-constituted. A large delegation inspected the work at the Pukekohe Technical High School. Now, a circular is being sent by the committee to headmasters, local bodies, residents and fruitgrowers’ associations on the North line from Auckland, stating that the committee is seeking the establishment of an agricultural high school in the northern suburbs, as well as in the southern. The Hon. H. Atmore, Minister of Education, is determined that a system should be established, adds the circular, with as much of an agricultural bias as possible. The committee thinks that such a school should be built between Avondale and Henderson, and that it would have at least 200 students by 1931. With a view to convincing the Minister, the committee is asking the probable number of children who would be prepared to attend. The committee is prepared to call a public meeting in any district.
