Auckland Couple Fifty Years Wed MR. AND MRS. I. G. PARRY Married 50 years ago last Wednesday, Mr. and Mrs. I. G. Parry, of 39 Marsden Avenue, Auckland, celebrated their golden wedding on June 12. Mrs. Parry is 81 and Mr. Parry 73. They were married at Liverpool on June 12, 1879, leaving at once for New Zealand, where they commenced their married life, arriving in Wellington at the end of that year, and reaching Auckland in the early part of 188 X). After a brief residence in the city, where Mr. Parry carried on the business of house building, and eventually kept the Dedwood Store at Ponsonby, he bought a farm in the Mahurangi district, where he carried on farming until four years ago, when he retired. In conjunction with his sons, Mr. Parry built the Glyn Butter Factory, where the well-known Glyn butter is manufactured. With the exception of one son, who lost his life in the Great War, thp members of the family are all living. They are: Arthur (Auckland). Henry (Auckland), Llewelyn (Hobsonville), Ivan (Devonport), and Mrs. P. Barker (Kauranga Valley), a stepson, Mr. E. O. Struthers, lives at Puka Puka. COUNTY WEDDING DAINTY BRIDAL GROUP TAPP—COTTON The Rev. C. W. Turner officiated at All Saints Church, Matamata, on Wednesday, when Madeline Catherine, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Cotton, Matamata, and Cedric S., son of Mr. and Mrs. S. Tapp, Ohaupo, were married. The bride entered the church escorted by her father. She wore a frock of ivory georgette, over which was draped a veil of white silk embroidered in silver. Her dainty capette was held in place with a tiny band of silver ribbon and a spray of orange blossom. She carried a shower bouquet of dahlias, narcissi and maindenhair. Misses M. Cotton and L. Tapp were the bridesmaids. The former wore a tiered frock of blue georgette with hat to match of felt and velvet. Miss Tapp’s frock was a russet pink georgette trimmed with gold lace, and her hat was felt and satin. The bouquets carried were dahlias and chrysanthemums. Two little flower girls, Daphne Cotton and Nesta Tapp, wore frilled frocks of shell pink and green crepe de chine, with white tulle bandeaux. Mr. G. Harrison, Ohaupo, was best man, and Mr. C. Gardiner, Matamata, groomsman. Mrs. Cotton received her guests wearing a frock of navy silk repp, relieved with fawn, and hat to tone. Mrs. Tapp, sen., was attired in chicory brown wool crepe de chine and matched hat of felt and beaute satin. The travelling costume was mushroom wool repp and crepe de chine and a handsome Russian fur. Their future residence will be at Ohaupo. BENEFIT DANCE Organised by the combined Matamata Old Pupils’ Associations for the benefit of Roy Tong, a member of the Old Boys’ team, who had the misfortune to have his leg broken while playing against Hinuera, the dance held in the Matamata Town Hall on Thursday evening was an unqualified success. Messrs. J. Vosper and G. Fitzgerald acted as M.C.’s, and the music was supplied gratis, also the supper. The amount collected amounted to £25. Among those present were: Mrs. J. F. Wells, rose pink satin and silver lace; Misses B. Bates, daffodil crepe de chine; M. Schwarp, cyclamen crepe de chine; P. Vincent, old gold taffeta; M. Collins, green taffeta and lace; M. Tong, shell pink taffeta; K. Forsman, crimson crepe de chine; J. Kilbride, white satin; E. Hitchcock, blue georgette; L. Begbie, pink and grey georgette; F. Tuck, green georgette; I. Pearson, blue crepe de chine; C. Collins, white georgette; M. Germann, flesh beaded georgette; F. Settle black satin; M. Oates, wine velvet; E. Waite, cornflower satin; A. Varzev, pink velvet; G. Stonex, blue georgette and silver; K. Darragh, pink taffeta; C. Geraghty, eau de nil georgette; D. Egan, blue georgette; E. Stewart, red velvet; M. Ross, purple satin; J. Rowe, scarlet georgette; L, Manager, flesh taffeta and tulle; R. Vincent, apricot satin; N. Pennell, purple satin; E. Landells, gold and lace; E. Whitworth, red satin: E. Johnson, Waharoa, shell pink georgette; C. Delaney, pink shot taffeta; A. McKeen, pink georgette; C. Ellery, red crepe de chine; E. Ellery, saxe blue georgette; H. Green, black satin.
