Pale yellow and green streamers, and hanging baskets of fern, were the decorations of the hall; red berries and leaves made attractive the supper-room. The visitors received bountiful hospitality from the hostesses at the clubhouse. The course was in good order, and most of the matches were very keen. Oliver won from Aliss Priestley, 4 and 3. • * * SHAKESPEARIAN CLUB READING On Thursday evening the Hamilton Shakespearian Club gave its first reading for the year, in the Alethodist schoolroom, London Street. The play chosen was Eden Philpotts’ “The Blue Comet,” a clever comedy. All the parts were very well read, and the large audience had a most enjoyable evening.
