“YOUNG WOODLEY”

ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL PERFORMANCE

In the hands of a less competent company “Young W'oodley,” John Van Bruten’s drama of college life, could easily become sordid. The delicate treatment extended by J. C. Williamson’s English Company, however, removes any possibility of this. It is handled with fine restraint and sincerity.

Mr. Lewis Shaw has been well chosen for the title xole. His work is easy and always convincing. An excellent piece of character work is Mr. Frank Royde’s study of the housemaster, and Miss Natalie Moya’s winsome charm fits her well for the part of his wife. Mr. George Preston as the unspeakable Vining, Mr. Michael Macowan as Ainger, Mr. Edward Ashley as Milner, and Master Brogan as Cope are also included in a strong and very even cast. Minor parts are well filled by Mr. Guy Hastings and Miss Clara Jenkins.

Last evening the drama was again followed with close attention by a very appreciative audience, and at the conclusion of the performance the company was warmly applauded for its excellent work.

“Young Woodley” will be continued this evening and on Monday.
