ACTED LIKE MADMAN
DRUNKEN MAN “CARRIES ON” IN ATTIC TERRIFIED HIS MOTHER After smashing the windows in his mother’s house and damaging her furniture to the extent of £4, William James Clark, aged 35, in a fit of temper climbed through the manhole in the ceiling and so terrified his mother that she rang for the police. Clark pleaded guilty to charges of mischief and drunkenness before Messrs. J. E. Cowell and J. E. Green, J.P.’s, in the Oneliunga Police Court this morning. Sergeant Cruickshank said that on the arrival of the police Clark was carrying on like a madman up in the roof and the constable had to climb through the manhole to catch him. The mother of accused was prepared to make good the damage done. Clark, who appeared very penitent, had nothing to say and was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence within six months if called upon. He also consented to a prohibition order for 12 months being issued against him.
