PAPAKURA ORPHANS’ CLUB

The Papakura Orphans’ Club held its third evening of the session on Thursday evening, when the official guests were the president and executive of the Onehunga Orphans’ Club. Vice-president Bro. S- D. Rice presided and extended a hearty welcome to the official guests and visitors from other clubs. Several new members were elected. Past-President Bro. E. V. Sutherland, of the Onehunga Orphans’ Club, in the unavoidable absence of the president, Bro. Buchanan, replied on behalf of the visitors. The following brethren assisted with the programme: Bros. Claude Suisted, E. Marks, R. Gibbons, J. Ross, A. McSkimining, R. Pawson, McLenan and J. Gillies. The Papakura Orphans’ Club Orchestra, under the conductorship of Bro. P. Hardman, gave several bright selections and very ably led the community singing.
