BECOMES LORD JUSTICE OF APPEAL BY-ELECTION NECESSARY British Official Wireless Reed. 11 a.m. RUGBY, Wednesday. It is officially announced that the King has appointed Sir Henry Slesser, K.C., to be Lord Justice of Appeal in place of Sir John Sankey. Sir John Sankey is Lord Chancellor in the new Labour Government. Sir Henry Slesser was Solicitor-Gen-eral in the Labour Government in 1924. His appointment to a judgeship creates a Parliamentary vacancy in South-east Leeds, where at the general election he defeated the Conservative by a majority of 15,000 vot^es.
