THE EMDEN

Sir.— Personally I liave no hostile feeling against our German visitors paying an ordinary call. In fact, I rather admire their cheek in coming, but I do contend that it would be an insult to the dead and their relatives to go out of our way to entertain these men. It is to be hoped the citizens who propose to do so will give as much thought to the permanent and longoverdue Cenotaph. Also, as our Transport Board requires passengers, will it also extend the proposed concession and at least allow our noble ex-Service men, now up against it. at least to ride free in their search for work during the period of the visit? Personally, I think our Mayor is to be congratulated on the stand he has taken. TRUE BLUE.
