GIFT AFTERNOON FOR UNEMPLOYED TALK ON SOCIAL WORK A gift afternoon for the poor ajjd unemployed of Auckland was given by the Thames Girls’ Club on Tuesday in the Druids’ Hall. Mrs. G. E. Hutchinson took the chair, in place of Mrs. McGregor, president, who was unable to attend on account of sickness. The Rev. Mr. Scrimgeour was present anti gave an interesting talk on social work. He thanked the club for its kindly help. Over 100 parcels of groceries and clothing were given 4. musical programme given by Mrs Hubber, Mrs. Wright, Miss Ilubber and Miss Caisley was much enjoyed. Among those present were: Mrs. Crawford, Mrs. Kerr, Mrs. Anderson Mrs. Clarke, Mrs. Reardon, Mrs. Radford, Mrs. Culpitt, Mrs. Rea, Mrs. Cordes, Mrs. Davison. Miss Aitken Miss Surman, Mrs. T. Aitken, Mrs! Dean. Mrs. Stubbing, Mrs. D. Morrison, Mrs. Hurling, Mrs. S. Cole, Mrs Mclndoe and Mrs. Mclntire.
HONOURED GUEST MRS. W. McKAIL GEDDES WELCOMED AT PARTY At “H azelbank,” their home in Wynyard Street, an enjoyable party was given yesterday afternoon by Mrs. J. McKail Geddes and Miss Mary Geddes, in honour of Mrs. William McKail Geddes, who arrived here recently after her marriage in Melbourne. During the afternoon Miss Hansard sang some delightful songs and was accompanied by Mrs. Charles Prime. Among the guests were: Mrs. Waller Mrs. Richmond. Mrs. Mac Geddes Mrs’ Mervyn Reed. Mrs. L. Miss Ann Gordon, Miss Rosemary Waller, Miss Ethne Lloyd, Miss Jessie Reid, Miss Gwen Fullerton and Miss Dolly Valle.
