COCOA IN SCHOOLS

FUND AT TAKAPUNA For tile past four years children attending the Takapuna Central and the Milford Side Schools have been supplied with hot cocoa during the lunch hour. This has proved a boon to the children who are unable to go home for lunch on account of distance. The cocoa is made and served by volunteers working by rota, the cost being met by a special “cocoa picture” run each year by the committee. Last evening the Palladium Theatre, Takapuna, was crowded with juveniles and their parents, when the children were rocked with merriment at the antics of “Riley the Cop.” Speaking at the interval, Mr. Thos. Hanner, chairman of the Takapuna School Committee, thanked all present tor their kindly interest in the scheme. He particularly mentioned Mr. G. p! Reston, lessee of the theatre, whose generosity had made the screening possible. It was mentioned that the net result of the entertainment would be about £l2 for the benefit of the cocoa fund.
