RUGBY DRAW STANDS

PONSONBY MUST PLAY AS ARRANGED COMMITTEE FIRM A request from the Ponsonby Club that its match with University should be played next Saturday, as three ot the club's leading players were shortly leaving with the All Black team for Australia, was turned down last evening by the Management Committee of the Auckland Rugby Union T T was pointed out that the present draw meant that Grammar would play* Manukau. The Management Committee had committed itself to granting Manukau permission to hold a charge day* at Onehunga on Saturday*, and arrangements were too far advanced to permit any alteration. In accordance with a suggestion made by* the Auckland Football Association, Messrs. H. Frost, A. Belcher, and A. Tilly were appointed a committee to represent the union and approach the City Council with delegations from kindred associations. The question of thefts from the Domain and the condition of the dressingrooms will then be brought before the Parks Committee. The New Zealand Union advised the reinstatements of E. J. Crewther, E. R. Leng, R. H. Barrett, R. Lymburn, R. J. Johnston and L. Littlewood. The North Shore Club was given permission to hold a charge day on Saturday next on condition that a statement of receipts be put into the union on the Monday folliowing the game. According to Mr. Belcher, clubs visiting suburban grounds on charge days were rather aggrieved. They were assisting to make the attraction and felt they should get something out of it. Clubs did not expect to take a half, but thought that perhaps a third would bo a fair thing. T know that nothing can be done this year,” continued Mr. Belcher, “but this is a warning to clubs holding a charge day that the question will be brought up at the annual meeting.* The Marathon Club solicited financial support in arranging its fixture with Rotorua, but the committee regretted that it could take no action.

Air. R. Cooper, manager of the representative team that travelled to Hamilton on the King’s Birthday*, presented his report and received the thanks of the committee.

The referees’ appointments board submitted the following members of the Auckland Referees’ Association as capable of controlling representative matches:—Messrs. L. Guiney, M. Kronfeld, C. F\ Pauli, G. Peace, E. C. Stretton, F. E. Sutherland. Mr. J. W. Arbury, chairman of the Management Committee of the Thames Rugby* Union, attended the meeting as the guest of the committee. Mr. H.
