HUGE TROUT
AUCKLANDERS’ HAUL AT OKATAINA AVERAGE OVER SLB. Rainbow trout fishing offered at Lake Okataina, Rotorua, this season is meaning a harvest for anglers. Another party of Aucklanders secured an extraordinarily good catch on Saturday. Ten rainbow trout were caught from a launch, and the aggregate weight was S4lb. The members of the party were Dr. J. Howard La wry, Mr. A. Addison and Master H. Lawry. The largest of the fish weighed 13Mb, but several were in the vicinity of 101 b. The smallest was 61b in weight. Opinions given by angling parties which have visited Okataina this season Show that tlie lake is enjoying widespread popularity. It presents scimo of the best trout fishing in the Dominion and has the advantage of easj' access. There are good facilities tor visitors. Dr. Lawry said that there is abundant feed in the lake for trout, but ihe abundance tends to make the fi-li "shy” of taking the bait. The difficulty of hooking the fish adds to ti ■<> keenness of the sport and tlie catches are invariably of good weight.
