ARCHDUKE IN PENURY
TAKES SHELTER AT REFUGE FOR TRAMPS AUSTRIAN ARISTOCRAT (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) BERLIN, Saturday. A young man applied for shelter at a tramps' night refuge, and produced papers identifying himself as the former Archduke Franz Josef of Austria. The authorities at the shelter were naturally incredulous, and passed ou his papers to the police. Extensive investigations proved the papers to be correct. The Arcliauke declared that he was penniless, and was working his way on foot to Trieste. He is a son of the Archduke Josef of the House of Habsburg-Lorraine. His father fought in the war against the Serbians, Russians and Italians, when he commanded the Sixth Army and was a Field-Marshal. He lives in retirement in Budapest, and holds posts in connection with learned and artistic societies. He married in 1593 Princess Augusta, a daughter of Prince Leopold of Bavaria. The son, now penniless, was born in 189 s and married in 1924 Princess Anna Monica Pia, a daughter of the ex-Crown Princess of Saxony.
