j PONSONBY CRUISING CLUB I Point Erin tea kiosk was a very ( cheery spot on Saturday eveninc, when j the Ponsonby Cruising Club held an aquatic bali. I a novel form of decoration had been ; used, lifebuoys and models of yachts j being arranged round the walls. During the evening an exhibition of j the tile trot was given by Miss Marj ~aret O'Connor and Mr. Bruce Greney. ! Splendid dance music was supplied by ; George Shortland's orchestra. ! MISS SPENCER’S DANCE AT SYMONDSVILLE STUDIO The Symondsville Studio was the scene of a very successful dance on Saturday evening, conducted by Miss Spencer. The studio was effectively decorated with pot plants, flowers, and Mr. J. Rowe and his orchestra included some new numbers in the musical programme. Among those present were: Miss Spencer, who wore powder blue taffeta with wrap to tone. Miss M. Hinge, cyclamen crepe de chine. Miss Taylor, bouffant frock with tulle flouncings. Miss D. Norton, mauve lame and satin beaute. Miss C. Knox, beaded frock of georgette. Miss E. Fernandez, ciel blue georgette and silver lace. Miss D. Robinson, lime crepe de chine. Miss F. Finlay son, cherry velvet trimmed with diamante. Miss Walsh, bois de rose taffeta. Miss Murdock, amber taffeta and gold lace. Miss Warren, china blue crepe de chine. Miss E. Warren, rose beaded georgette frock. Miss M. Booth, mauve crepe de chine, with hem of white fur. Miss R. Cummings, old rose ring velvet, with uneven hem. Miss G. Saunders, wore almond green taffeta and gold lace. Miss Peet, shaded green georgette heavily beaded. Miss D. King, black georgette and tulle. Miss E. King, emerald green georgette. Miss Bieleski, old rose taffeta and lame. DINNER PARTY A bright dinner party was given by Mr. and Mrs. W. Brown, of "Roseneath,” Riccarton, Christchurch, in honour of Dr. and Mrs. R. W. Bellringer, whose marriage took place at the Catholic Cathedral, Christchurch, recently. The tables were effectively decorated with pale green and cream ribbons, autumn leaves, and crystal vases of bronze dahlias and maidenhair fern. The guests were: Dr. and Mrs. R. W. Bellringer, Mr. and Mrs. F. R. Amodeo, Mrs. R. Dickinson (Auckland), Mrs. C. Jensen, Miss D. Brown, and Messrs. W. Hall, C. M. Shadbolt, and G. Cashmore. When making a voile frock, take a straight piece of the material and pull out enough threads to hem up the bottom of the skirt. When making scones, add a tablespoon of cornflour to the usual mixture. Turn potatoes well over in the hot fat. before baking them. They will brown nicely, and will not shrivel.
