PRELIMINARY MEETING SAVIDAN—NILSEN WINS Members of the Auckland Amateur Athletic Club are preparing for the j winter athletic season. At Onehunga on Saturday afternoon ■ events, controlled by Mr. W. Morton. | were decided as another preliminary j to the season. J. W. Savidan did best, j winning off scratch in a difficult j steeplechase and running second to N. J R. Nilsen in the dash. Nilsen also won the discus throw. Others prominent j in the events were R. B. Witten, first j in the shot-put; F. L. Witten and H. ! McNeil. There was an interested I atendance.
