FOUND HANGING

RETURNED SOLDIER’S FATE IN FIT OF DEPRESSION Last evening about seven o’clock, Mr. Herbert Menry Pycroft was found dead at his residence, 23 Balfour r?oad, Parnell. He was hanging by a strap from a beam beneath the house. At an inquest held this afternoon, Francis Sarah PyerufL said that th» deceased, who was her brother, was a married man. Ho was living with her in Parnell. Mr. Pvcrnft was a returned soldier and had been out or work for some time. Witnes found her brother hanging last evening. She out down the body and sent for the liodor. There was no apparent reason for Mr. Pycroft s act and he was usually in good spirits. Mr. L. Alderton, who appeared for the relatives, explained that drink had a strong hold on Mr. Pycroft, and this resulted in fits of depression. It was probably during such a fit that Mr. Pycroft had hanged himself. The coroner, Mr. F. K. Hunt, returned a verdict of death by hanging while in a state of mental depression.
