CAPITOL AND EMPIRE

“RAMONA” TO-MORROW Both the Capitol and the Empire Theatres are let for political meetings this evening, but picture programmes will be presented there again to-mor-row. The main attraction to-morrow will be the beautiful photoplay, “Ramona.” “Ramona” is the story from the pen of Helen Hunt Jackson, and stars Dolores Del Rio, whose performance in “What Price Glory?” and “Resurrection,” have already endeared her to Auckland pictures-goers. There is much to love in “Ramona.” True art is everywhere manifest, no less in the style of parchment titles than in the rhythmic revelation of the story. The begining of the story consists of several illustrated paragraphs acquainting one with the setting of the story. In that atmosphere appears Dolores Del Rio and Roland Drew, brother and sister, in the early days of California, when Spanish dons graced the ranches, where thousands of cattle and sheep grazed. At the Capitol Theatre a second attraction will be provided in “Three Ring Marirage,” a circus story starring Mary Astor and Lloyd Hughes. At the Empire Theatre the second attraction will be “The Shield of Honour,” a story of the American police force, starring Neil Hamilton. In addition, at both theatres, the latest election results will be notified throughout the evening.
