LEAGUE MEETS AT AVONDALE ; The Avondale branch of the Reform i League met last evening, when there | was a large attendance of supporters ;of the party’s cause in the Suburbs i electorate. Mr. James was elected to j ; the chair, and Mr. Hosking appointed !secretary. J The nucleus of a strong working j j committee was formed, with authority j to formulate a programme of opera- j Lions and add to its numbers. A resolution which Mr. D. B. Rus- • sell, Reform candidate for the seat, had j brought forward at the previous meet- • ing. to the effect that Avondale should I be the chief point in the electorate, was discussed. It was agreed by the meeting that j j Avondale possessed the facilities, as ; well as the population, for this posi- j I tion. Mr. Beckett, organiser for the party, ! ! said he personally favoured the idea, 1 and promised to have the question brought before the executive.
