UNEMPLOYED REGISTER
SUBURBAN WORKERS’ NEEDS I*reus Association. WELLINGTON, Wednesday. Advice that there is no necessity for unemployed workers living in the suburbs to make a daily visit to the ' central labour bureau in Auckland to keep their name on the register of applicants for work has been received by Mr. W. J. Jordan (Manukau), from the Acting-Minister of Labour, Hon. R. A. Wright. When an applicant has registered all that is required is that lie shall renew his application at least once a fortnight, and this may be done at the Onehnnga, or any other suburban post office. It is the practice of the Labour Department, the Minister adds, to offer employment to applicants according to the date of theix- application. Men with dependants receive priority.
