DEADLY CURRENT

ELECTRIC MERRY-GO-ROUND CHILDREN IN PERIL (United P.A.—By Telegraph — Copyright) (United Service) OTTAWA, Wednesday. While a merry-go-round crowded with children was revolving at Montreal, a short circuit turned the electric current into the control levers, which were operated by one of the owners, Hedges, who was instantly killed.

The platform then became charged, and, continuing to revolve quickly, caused an outburst from the alarmed children and watching women. Two policemen who attempted to jump on the platform were hurled off and badly shocked. The power was shortly afterwards cut off, and the children descended. None were hurt seriously, beyond the fright and shock.
