LOST REVENUE
POWER BOARD’S PLIGHT DAYLIGHT SAVING BLAMED TE KUITI, To-day. The secretary-manager has reported to the Waitomo Power Board that revenue receipts for December and January amounted to £2,463 13s lOd. The figures for light and power were £1,240 10s 4d, which, allowing an estimate of £SOO for Te Kuiti and Otorohanga for January owing to meters not having been read for that month, showed a greater reduction, than was anticipated. Daylight-saving and the long spell of dry weather would, in the secretary’s opinion, seriously affect the board’s activities. The chairman stated that daylight saving was not beneficial to the board as suppliers of power. The installation work at the new Waitomo Caves Hostel is expected to be completed in about a fortnight’s time. The total number of consumers now is: Te Kuiti, 713; Otorohanga, 161; country districts, 236; motors connected, 145; water-heaters, 111; ranges 41; pumps, 4; washing machines, 3.
