AUSTRALIAN CRICKETERS
MATCH AT HAMILTON NORTH ISLAND TEAM PROPOSED (From Our Own Correspondent) HAMILTON, Wednesday. “Waikato is the weakest minor cricket association in New Zealand,’’ said Mr. G. Reid at a meeting of the Waikato Cricket Association last evening, when it was suggested that an effort be made to strengthen the Waikato eleven for the match against the Australian team on March 7 and 8, by inclusion of other North Island players. Mr. Reid said the Waikato’s cricket history showed that it was absurd to suppose that a purely local team could give the visitors a good game. Several speakers supported Mr. Reid, and said it was desirable from all points of view that a strong eleven should be selected to meet the visitors. It was resolved to invite T. C. Lowry, H. M. McG.irr and F. T. Badcock (Wellington), E. H. Bowley. J. Langridge and A. S. Player (Auckland), to combine with the Waikato players to make up a North Island team to meet the visitors.
