RANDWICK RACES METROPOLITAN TO MURILLO GOING WAS HEAVY By Cable. —Press Association. —Copyright SYDNEY, Monday. The Australian Jockey Club’s meeting to-day was marred by unpropitious weather. Rain l'eii unceasingly in the early morning but eased off just before the first race. Heavy cold showers fell at intervals during the afternoon, and as a result the race track was in a heavy state. Despite unpropitious weather there was an attendance of 50,000 at Randwick. In the decision of the Breeders’ Plate, the New Zealand colts Tariff and Ridgemount were prominent in the early stages, but failed over the last furlong, leaving Ramulus, a brother to the Derby winner, Rampion, to win by three-quarters of a length. The field for the Metropolitan was reduced to 19 by the withdrawal of Pantheon, Valamita and Octember. Limerick was unfortunate to receive some knocks; early in the contest, and he was well back passing the stand the first time, where Drawbridge had the lead from Amounis. Murillo also was knocked back along the back stretch, but he made a smart run rounding the bend.
