MINOR WAGE INCREASES TO OPERATE ON OCTOBER 17 The new Shop Assistants’ Award wtieh comes into force on October 17, if generally considered by employees as fairly seitisfe ctory as awards are going. Several small increases have been provided for. tinier male assistants receive 2s 6d * *T»ak tnciease though senior female tasiitants and all others remain as formerly. Window-dressers and departtoWHtal mamgers have obtained a rise from £5 2s 6cl to £5 ss. Another clause *tat*s 13 5s as the minimum for department manageresses. Tit vageis of storemen and packers *it/i Increases are:-*-Storemen in charge 14 15s (ss), other storemen £4 5s (st>, Junior storemen and packers recehis is 6d tu week, increase all round. Tlis Auckland hours are the same as -n the old award, 5.30 p.m. on four days of the week, 9 o’clock on late night and ort one half-day.
