NO CHANGE IN SYSTEM WELLINGTON, Wednesday. There is no prospect of an amendment to the Education Act in the direction of giving teachers the right of appeal against non-appointment, in cases where applicants have been appointed over teachers higher on the grading list. The question was fully discussed last session, said the Minister of Education, Hon. R. A.. Wright, to-day, in reply to a question by Mr R. McKeen, member for Wellington South, and it was decided that the present system provided so many safeguards against unjust appointments, and the institution of a right of appeal would so disorganise th€) service, and involve the country in such unnecessary expense, that the Government resolved not to amend the Act in the direction desired. -
