AUCKLAND RUGBY PLAYERS FOR REP. PRACTICE

Mr. V. R. Meredith, sole selector to the Auckland Rugby Union, has chosen the following players for practice in view of the match against Otago on Saturday and also the match against Wellington the following Saturday: Palmer, Hadley, Wanoa, Righton, McWilliams, Knight, Catlicart, Batty, Fletcher, Pell, Keene, McManus, Wright, Bndeley, Meyer, Berridge, Jenkin, Sheen, Lucas, Hook, Woods and Paewai. The players will train at Xorth Shore I*l-is evening, travelling by the seven o’clock boat.

The Winner’s Portion The winner of to-morrow's Wanganui Guineas gets E 390. This is good money for a four-horse event. Mr. G. M. Currie last *year won with Lysandei ; this time Damaris is to represent him. Some Good Mounts. B. H. Morris will be riding Mr. G. M. Currie’s horses to-morrow. They are Damaris, Thaw, Mask and Lysander. He may be on Covent Garden in the event cf that three-year-old being engaged in the open sprint on the second, day. Riding Engagements After the Wanganui meeting J. Barry leaves for Sydney, and he will ride for Mr. W. G. Stead at the Australian Jockey Club spring meeting. To-morrow he rides Bank Note, Star Area and Kiosk. L. G. Morris pilots Otairi, Reremoana arid Vast Acre. H. Wiggins will be on Whenuanui. Athenry, Tea Time*, Alloway and Royal Land. T. Green is to ride In the Shade, Eden Hall, Le Choucas and (on Saturday) Prince Humphrey in the Debutante Stakes. R. Reed pilots Great Charter and Oration to-morrow, and on ' Saturday Chit and the stable elect, Star Stranger or Joy King, in the New Zealand Eclipse Stakes. W. H. Jones will be on ITuikai in the open sprint. C. W. France will have the mounts on Cochineal, Broad Acre and Warflame. J. Gunn is to ride Panther and Cosmetic.
