Mecredy left Auckland last evening to poin her husband, Dr. Mecredy, at New Plymouth. Miss Seth Smith, who has been staying with Mrs. E. If. Reid, Remuera Road left last evening for Christchurch. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Armstrong are leaving by the limaroa on Friday for Sydney, where they will join the Orama sailing for England on September 17. RECENT WEDDINGS STANISH—PURNELL The wedding was solemnised at St, Matthew’s Church on Monday evening by the Rev. Grant Co wen of Nellie Purnell, the third daugther of Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Purnell of Auckland, to John Stanish, the third son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Stanish. The bride wore a frock of figured broche satin trimed with silver lace, and dainty veil held with a wreath of orange blossoms. Her bouquet was of spring flowers and maiden-hair fern. Miss Jessica Purnell attended as bridesmaid, wearing* a pretty frock of apricot crepe de chine with gold trimming and a headdress of gold and apricot tulle. She carried a bouquet to match. The bride was given away by Mr. I. Burmaz and the bridegroom was attended by Mr. George Sarac-Boggalo. After the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents where a large number of guests were received. Jack of Mount Eden, and John Edgar Bongard, the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Warn of Mount Eden. The Rev. E. E. Bamford officiated. The bride, who was given away by her brother. Mr. B. Jack wore a pretty blush rose frock of taffeta over frilled georgette, fashioned on early Victorian lines. Her veil of silver and white embroidered tulle • was caught with a chaplet of orange blossoms and fell in the form of a train to the hem of her gown, She carried a pastel tinted bouquet of spring blossoms. ALL SAINTS’ SOCIAL CLUB PLAIN AND FANCY DRESS BALL A most successful plain and fancy dress ball was held in All Saints’ Hall last week. The majority of the dancers were In fancy dress and the gaily decorated hall presented a really festive scene. . , So charming and varied were the dresses that the judges, Mesdames Young and Coppins and Mr. P. Mackie, had great difficulty in choosing the winners, who were: Ladies. —Miss Yvonne Wayte, Chinese Girl, 1; Miss Forbes, Eastern Girl, 2; Miss Sybil Thompson, New Zealand Goods, 3. A dainty supper was served and was followed by Monte Carlo and streamer dances, dancing being continued until midnight. Music was supplied by the Continental Serenaders.

TAMAKI YACHT CLUB

PRIZE DISTRIBUTION -V large crowd attended the annual prize distribution dance and social of the Tamaki Yacht Club, held in the Kohimarama Hall last evening. Mr. D. Birch officiated as master of ceremonies, and visitors were looked after by the club hostesses, who were: Mrs. Tirrell, wearing a frock of fawn crepe de_ chine and georgette. Mrs. AY. H. Paterson, black panne velvet gown. Airs. F. AVebster, black model gown brocaded in silver. Airs. Charles Gray, apricot georgette frock with blue panne velvet. Airs. F. AY. Andrew, jade green net over .black satin frock. Airs. F. Brown, frock of pastel tinted georgette. Mrs. H. C. Barnes, black taffeta gown. Aliss AI. Tirrell, chic black satin model frock. Mr. J. AV. Andrew, the commodore, said that both irorn a boating as well as a financial standpoint, the club had had a very successful year. Considering that the club was founded only two years ago, he thought it gratifying that the membership now stood at 130. The success was due to the efforts of officers and committee, and especially to Mr. E. G. Tyrrell, the secretary. Mr. C. AY. Anderson presented the trophies and congratulated the representatives of the winning boats. Mr. Newcomb welcomed all visiting yachtsmen and kindred club representatives.
