In a -village near Cassel, iri Prussia, Henrich Klauss, a former policeman, in a sudden lit of madfiess, tried to shoot his parents. A gendarme came to the rescue, but was shot dead. Nine policemen advanced toward the lunatic’s house, but retired in the face of a fusilade of revolver shots. Reinforcements under the provincial governor blew in the door, and Klauss withdrew to the cellar, where damp straw was lighted to drive him out. The police threw a bomb, and received another fusilade of shots. "Using hand-grenades, the attackers entered the house, and found the madman dead in the cellar.
