FOOT SLIPPED ON CLUTCH

CROSSING FATALITY DEATH OF MOTORIST (From Our Otcn Correspondent.) PALMERSTON N., To-day. At the coroner’s inquiry held this morning: into the circumstances surrounding the death o:’ Owen Sa.ndilands Tyerman, who was killed in a level crossing accident on Friday when a car collided with a train, evidence showee that the driver of the train sounded his whistle when approaching the crossing, of which the deceased had a clear view. O'ne witness expressed the opinion that deceased tried to pull up the car but his foot slipped off the clutch. The coroner returned a verdict that deceased died of injuries received in c collision with a train, and stressed the fact that motorists should be more careful in negotiating crossings.

Pacroa-Te Aroha Trains.—On Saturday next, the train which usually leaves Paeroa for Te Aroha at 11.23 a.m., will be delayed on account of a football match at Te Aroha. Further particulars are advertised in this issue.
