Farmers' Finance A statement to the House of Representatives 6n the question of the Government’s proposals with the object of facilitating farmers’ finance has been promised by the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, who said in reply to Mr. G. W. Forbes that definite proposals were being considered. The intentions of Mr. W. A. Veitch in respect to the country’s finance are conveyed in his notice of intention to introduce a Bill, the Agricultural Bant Bill. Control of Control Boa rds Having regard to the wide powers possessed by control boards and the influence which the exercise of these powers can exert upon the welfare of producers and the Dominion, the Minister of Agriculture, the Hon. Q. J. Hawken. does not consider it desirable to abolish the principle of Government representation upon them. This statement was made in reply to a question by Mr. A. Bell, who asked that control boards should comprise producers or their nominees only. Mr. Mcllveney's Remarks It was officially announced in the House to-day that the statement made some time ago by Police Commissioner W. Mcllveney respecting crime in Auckland was not made w-ith the cognisance of the Minister of Justice, the Hon. F. J. Rolleston. “It is not an accurate report of the Commissioner’s remarks,” said the Minister, in reply to Mr. J. A. Lee. “which was a private instructional address to the detectives and not in* tended for publication.” Mr. J. A. Lee expressed a desire to have the Commissioner’s instructions to the force issued to the force and not to the public through the force.
