TAURANGA HOSPITAL
A FARM SUGGESTED BEAUTIFYING OF GROUNDS (From Our Own Correspondent.) TAURANGA, To-day. The Hospital Board met yesterday. Mr. T. Lochhead (chairman) presided, and Messrs. A. Scantlebury, J. Hume. A. McGhie, D. Grant, B. Robbins, and A. Brown were present. The balance of the McCows bequest of £9O was received. A scheme for converting the old hospital at Te Puke into a hospital for chronic cases was referred to the medical staff to report upon. The visiting committee recommended the farming of the 20 acres of land attached to the Tauranga Hospital, and the question was referred to the chairman to bring up a scheme. It was decided to start beautifying the grounds by planting shrubs, trees, etc. Reports showed the hospital had been occupied to its full capacity. Reference was made to native patients’ fees, and it was considered that the Government should be responsible for the same being paid through one of the Native Affairs departments. The matter of a motor-ambulance was held over.
