TOUR OF LANCASHIRE British Wireless. — Copyright. RUGBY, Tuesday. King Fuad of Egypt to-day made a tour of the cotton mills in Lancashire. Of particular interest to the distinguished visitor were the first cotton mills which John Horrocks erected at Preston. In those days the only employees were Horrocks and his two sisters. To-day 1,000 girls are employed at Horrocks’s mills. They gave King Fuad a rousing welcome. The Royal visitor passed under an arch made of 120 bales of Egyptian cotton, weighing 40 tons. He witnessed the whole process of manufacture, from the opening of the bales to the finished article. —A. and N.Z.
