LOOKING AHEAD!

AVONDALE SEWERAGE The work of preparing a comprehensive scheme for possible future sewerage extensions in the borough of Avondale is to be put in hand as early as possible by the council’s engineer, Mr. Goldsboro. It will be necessary in order to determine the position of the main sewer, which will take in a very large portion of Avondale South, to have a certain amount of field work carried out. The work of constructing sewers in the No. 2 reticulation area is progressing satisfactorily. The whole of the pipe laying should be completed within the next four weeks. Progress on the main sewer extension has been unavoidably slow on account of the extremely difficult nature of the work. At present the contractors are preparing to tunnel under the concrete road. The nature of the ground requires extremely careful handling.
