“A GLORIOUS REIGN”
ANCIENT DREAM REALISED GRIEF OF THE PEOPLE By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright Reed. 11.40 a.m. BUCHAREST. Wed. The Government has issued a proclamation which states: “The first King of Greater Rumania has been cut off after a glorious reign, in which was realised the ancient dream of our people. We weep uncomforted for the death of the greatest and best of all Rumanians, who was peerless in understanding and decision during the war, and wise and good in peace. He will ever remain in the hearts of the people. We will never forget. There was not a sacrifice which Ferdinand did not make for his country. We wish to remain faithful to the ideal to which he was devoted during his life; let us remain united, assuring tranquillity
and progress. We are unshakeably devoted to the dynasty, constitution and laws, centering on Michael our love and faith in the nation’s destiny, and believing that a brilliant future is assured to Rumania, which was never so great as it is to-day.”—A. and N.Z.
