FOUR LEAGUE PLAYERS RICHMOND V. DEVONPORT YESTERDAY’S BIG GAME Sensational incidents marked the League Rugby match between Devonport and Richmond at Carlaw Park yesterday, and a crowd of between three and four thousand people got their money's worth of excitement. POUR well-known players were given their marching orders by the referee. Late in the game the referee spoke to St. George (Devonport), who had to leave the field, and a couple of minutes later Stewart (Richmond) was sent off, followed by Prentice (Richmond) and O’Brien (Devonport). The game itself was a splendidly contested one, Devonport winning by 17 points to 13. Tries for the winners were scored by Hemmingway, Dixon, Beattie, O’Brien and Ruby, none being converted, and St. George kicked a penalty goal. For Richmond ,Jenkinson, Swift and Campbell scored, and Carroll kicked two goals.
