A dearth of new tapilal issues on the investment market in New Zealand is reflected in the current strong demand for Australian stocks and the increased number of Commonwealth issues now being quoted on New Zealand Stock Exchanges. New listings of Australian shares are continually being made and 1 it has been apparent for some time that : New Zealand i.s a bigger buyer of Aus- ' tralian industrials than it is a seller. For some years the New Zealand market has been starved of now issue;, following the boon: in land utilisation ventures and. later, in gold minim l companies. Even the Government has been off the loan market, while local body requirements have been at a minimum. It is to trade and industry. however, that the capital marbei look:for the bulk of its supply. But in recent yeais industry has not wanted more capital. The effects are being felt keenly now, as money is growing more confident and is seeking profitable outlets. A few public issues have been made recently and have been heavily oversubscribed, but the inv-"'--ent market is looking more and more to Ausb alia to supply its growing needs. In both Australia and Great Britain the new capital market is expanding. New Zealand would follow the same road, provided confidence can be maintained,
