Radio Beacons For New Zealand Coast.
Wellington, June 21. Orders are to be placed within about a month by the Marine Department for two radio beacons, one for Baring Head and the other for Cape Campbell, according to a statement made by the Minister of Marine, the Hon. -P. Fraser, to a deputation from the Wellington Merchant Service Guild, which waited on him. The discussion was held in private. The deputation consisted of Captain Macihdoe (secretary), Captains Morrall, ©algleish, Holm, Weltzer, Watson and Knowles. It was suggested to the Minister that 'there Were a nurrfber of poirits round the New Zealand const Where radio beacons wotdd Tdb desirable. The Minister said he was in full agreement wifft the 'pYoposa'ls and informed the deputation that the work would go ahead as quickly as possible. A start Was to be made with the two beacons to be placed at Baring Hdad and Cape Campbell, and orders would be placed for these in about'a rno'h'th's time.
