HIGH SCHOOL CONTROL
| Good Attendance at Stratford School 1 NEW DESKS TO BE PRO-" ! VIDEO i The monthly meeting of the Board | of Governors oi" the Stratford Teehnij cal High School met on Thursday ' night. There were present Messrs H. Trimble (chairman); J. McAllis ter, E. S. Rutherfurd, <E. H. Easoir, A. Ferguson, H. Bishop and Mrs J. W. McMillan. A very satisfactory attendance throughout .the month was commented on by the principal, Mr A. H. R. Amoss, in his report'. Though the work of the school was well up to previous years there were only .21 of the pupils sitting "for matriculation this year. This number was low *er than usual owing, perhaps,' to the greater difficulty in obtaining the fee for the examination. . The annual steeplechase was held on October 30, when a record number of boys took part. It was the most satisfactory steeplechase the school had had, as the times were good and practically all ;s!ic boys completed the course. It was decided by the agricultural committee to nominate a team ' of young Friesians for the Hawera Show.
• The baths were filled for the first time on Monday, and arrangements had been completed for the conduct of swimming through the term. Permission was granted Mr W. J. Hall to attend examinations.
The Education Department advised that a grant would be made for new desks and Mr E. D. Evans' tender for the supply was accepted;.
