SWEPT OFF ROCKS

Returned by Third Wave MAORI FISHERMAN'S LUCK A Maori, John Peremona, of Waimauku, had a narrow escape from drowning at Muriwai at seven o'clock on Sunday morning, when he was fishing. He got down on to a ledge to untangle his fishing line, and a wave swept him into the sea, says the Auckland Star. Though he lias a paralysed leg and has to walk with a crutch, he managed to keep afloat. A fellow fisherman, Mr. D. Allen, of Hamilton, then got down on to the ledge, and after two waves had taken tho Maori further away, .a third brought him nearer and his rescuer managed to pull him out by the arm. A third man, Mr. Vercoe, of Auckland, held Mr. Allen as he reached out. A fairly heavy sea was running at the time and the tide was going out.
